I have just changed the transmission filters on my 2004 Dodge Dakota and now it will not move in any gear. The filters that I changed was the regular push in filter and the spin on filter. I have got the error codes Po700 and po841. Can anyone please tell me what this error codes mean?
Any Help with this will be greatly appreciated.
I can not believe it I just changed the filters and put in Dodge atf+4 transmission fluid and now it won't move. I hope that my transmission is not out as I am still paying on the truck. It only has 42,000 miles on it.

 

P0700 just means there is a code stored in the transmission control module.
P0841 means the LR Pressure Switch reads open or closed at the wrong time in a given gear.

Are you 100% sure there is nothing blocking the transmission fluid intake.anywhere else? What is the fluid level? (Note, its important to let the transmission run in NEUTRAL for a litle but, since it doesn't pump the fluid in park, checking in NEUTRAL is the correct way)

I found out that I did not get the o-ring seal pressed in all the way and it must of been sucking air instead of fluid. The o-ring seal must be pressed in flat, but I did not do that. I had to drop the pan again and recheck everything. another thing I did was soak the spin on filter in atf+4 trans fluid.

i was told that the newer mopars trans have a check valve in the lube/coolent line.
this valve can hold trash from a blownup trans and keep the fulid from lubing/ cooling the trans. so just ALWAS clean this check valve, i think its at the radator.

 

Or remove it... Thats what my mechanic did

WOW! i never thought of just removing it. will that let more fluid flow?

 

I don't think it will let more fluid flow, but if you have a LPD bypass cooler, you can prevent having more mess in your truck, if the check valve cloggs everything ciezes up, if it just has scraps going around well, maybe you might get by, he even showed me it. If the scraps roam they atleast have a chance at getting the magnet...

Also LPD coolers are good at cooling etc.. lots of safety to them. Not even a chance of getting rad fluid in the tranny.

that sounds like a good way to go. my 2001 dak looks like it has a factory aux cooler. i havent checked the numbers to be sure. the service manual i down loaded says that there is a sticker under the pass seat. you have to take the seat out and pull the carpet up to get to it. why would anyone hide it like that?

 

when my trans went, my transmission guy found that the check valve was almost compeltely closed and was stuck, that why O/D lost adequate fluid flow and cooked itself
