Ok, just to get the ball rolling I've read that a 5.2 to 5.9 swap is pretty easy. Everything is the same. And I think that you can even use the 5.2 ECU but using the 5.9 ECU is the better bet.

You might try doing some searches on there because I've seen this information before just not sure how long ago that was. You might try the other forum also.

From what I have heard you can run the 5.2 ecu but its kinda a waste because you wont get the full potential out of the 5.9 so it just makes more sense if you are spending money on the 5.9 you might as well get your moneys worth and do the 5.9 ecu.

well i know that the intake andheaders will bolt right up but what about the flywheel? and you think the 5.9 ecu will be plug and play with the 5.2 harness?

The 318 is internally balanced where the 360 is externally balanced. You will need a 360 flywheel. Ive read where someone got the 360 internally balanced(Said it was around 200 or so) so they could use the 318 flywheel they had. It would be much better if you could find a 360 with trans. I am by no means a expert at this ,still young and learning everyday so for a final answer I would leave it up to one of the more experienced members here.

The 5.9 should really have the 46re behind it(5.2 only had 44re) with the hd transfer case.

You will need the ECU from the 5.9, as well as a 5.9 specific flywheel as it is externally balanced as mentioned above. Also, dodgeramguy85 is correct in saying that you need the 46RE behind the 5.9 as the 44RE will not live long with the added torque from the larger motor. The wiring harness should be all plug and play, and all of your accessories should be a direct swap as well. Your best bet would be to find a motor and tranny together to swap in.
