Unhappy HIDs stopped working

so about a few days ago my main headlight 55w hids stopped working. i see no blown fuses, so im clueless as to how to diagnose this huge issue. i still have my 35w hid fog lights, but it just isnt the same without main headlights not to mention its highly illegal in the great common wealth state.

to you guys with hids does anybody have any ideas? Im thinking bad relay harness thingy or bad ballasts. but for them both to go out at the same time seems a bit odd to me.

Check for voltage on the bulb side of the ballast and go from there.

If both stopped working I would check the relay harness. You could always stab in your old bulb and see if its the switch or the wiring. Im betting tho its the relay harness. My fog lights are set up differently than my head lights. My headlights use a hot off the battery where my fogs just plug into my stock fog light harness.

checked over it today with a fluke meter. im definitely thinking its my harness. my fogs are off of a relay. both have hots to battery though and no fuses blown. i had to throw my old bulbs in, so i can pass inspection on friday.

i tried to call the mydepot / vme people with no success.

I've had better luck emailing them. By the time that you get someone on the phone that you can understand you are better off saving the time and hassle with email.

So are HID's really that better? I'm saving up for new headlight assemblies, should I get HID's with them also?

Its like switching from a candle to a spotlight pretty much. Here is a fog light comparison on my truck you can kinda tell.
