2002 dakota quad cab 5.9 sport.. also R/T?
so just picked up a 2002 dakota with the 5.9 360 v8 side of truck says sport..but after looking at a few papers i have for inspection and oil changes and work done on truck they all say 2002 dakota sport rt is this a true rt? someone told me to check the vin. for a z which there is..can anyone shed a little light on this for me is it really sport rt?

i just picked up a 2002 quadcab dakota sport.. it has the 5.9 360 v8.. all the paperwork i have found along with the inspection and insurance say its sport R/T ... is this true? how do i know if its a true rt..someone said look at the vin for a z.. which is there..posted a few pics if anyone can shed a little light on this for me.. 1st dodge ever owned and im in love

This will get you a build sheet for your truck. It will tell you everything the truck came with from the factory. Usually takes about a full day to get it back from them in your email.

A R/T will have a "7" for the 6th digit in the vin
A Sport will have a "3"
The Z is not a R/T code but a 5.9 V8 code and will be the 8th digit in the vin
I would like to say its more than decals/exhaust, the R/T's only have a 2,000LB trailer limit according to Dodge literature. While a non R/T V8 (either 4.7 or 5.9) can have as much as 6,600 and the lowest rated is 5,950. My guess for this would be in the tune to the transmission
