It's not really plug and play. It should be programmed with your VIN and mileage and you need to match all options - including security.

At best you'd be limited to '01 or '02 due to wiring changes, etc. There are differences between the years so you really should get an exact match.

There are places online you can give them your information and they'll program one for you, then you just swap it out, fairly inexpensive (compared to Dodge).

http://autocomputerexchange.net is said to be one of the very best with rebuilding and reprogramming PCM's. I have read on other forums they do excellent work and stand behind their work and try their best to be sure you get the right part and it works correctly. They are in South Florida. OP might do well to at least check with them on a rebuilt PCM.

Will you check this thread out? I think I might be able to find a PCM from an 02 of like vehicle at my local junk yard, if it has the same basic specs. I don't need to pass smog right this second so i'm just trying to get this thing mobile.

Let me know on your opinions on this.

The VIN won't keep it from running. Make sure everything matches.

If the PCM has security, and your truck doesn't, it won't work.

Do you have SKIM?

I found a PCM at a local junk yard in my exact truck BUT its an 00 instead of an 02. Understanding wiring changes for certain things, will this have any effect on it for just doing what I need it to do?

No SKIM

The computer bus is different in '00, 2 wire, not the ONE wire you have in your '02.
It is NOT compatible, some pinouts are different.

You are limited to '01 or '02 at best. Even an '01 may not work but the wiring is the same.

I have access to a 2001 Dodge Van 3.9l PCM. Is this the same single wire PCI bus?

Last question, I swear!

I don't know. There were differences between a Ram and a Dakota, just saying...

I only ask because of that previous thread I posted about the dodge van and the durango swap.

I'm at the point where I desperately need it to run...With cluster working. So I'm just really hoping that as long as its PCI and my 3.9l gas engine, that its going to start up.
