Default pcv valve location

I've recently decided to change the pcv valve on my dakota in the process I broke the hose so I went to get a new one from dodge and new gromett now see here's the confusion I'm having so my pcv valve was on the drivers side were the oil cap is at, the dealer said that they're diagram shows that the pcv valve is suppose to be on the passenger side but I told them that it was on the driver side and it was the orginal pcv from dodge ( the blue one ) with the orginal gromett aswell ,does anybody with the same dak like mine know we're it's suppose to be both me and the service guy were confused , also because when I got the first gormett from dodge it had a bigger hole then the orginal one so the pcv would fit loose i had to go get a different gormett with a smaller hole so the pcv would go in tightly , thanks for any advice 2000 dodge dakota v6 3.9L slt quad cab
