Default cv shaft question

Im needing to replace my passenger cv shaft this weekend and need help on which shaft to buy. i see on rockauto and autozone website two different options.
1)Front Right; 4WD; From 09/12/00; Retaining ring groove located 1/2" from end of Female Inboard Housing
2)Front Right; 4WD; Retaining ring groove located 1-5/16" from end of Female Inboard Housing; To 9/11/00

so which one do I need? or is it just trial and error?

Check the label on the drivers door. It should show a date of manufacture. With luck it isn't Sept 00.

Otherwise pull the old one and measure it. It's a good idea to verify the length anyways, sometime the rebuilder makes a mistake.

Those Cardan's and such they sell on there though are China made. Just so you know. I got mine and said screw it it's cheap but I'm afraid they felt a little infearer compared to stock.
