Default Engine swap

I have a 96 Dakota 2wd with 3.9, can I swap the 318 from a 94 Dakota4X4 and it's computer and wiring harness and put it in my 96. Any help would be much appreciated.

Nope. 94 is OBDI, 96 should be OBDII, If you have an automatic trans, the PCM will have no provisions for running it. You need the electronics (PCM, wiring harness) from a 96 or newer truck, and there is likely an upper limit on that as well.....

If you have an automatic trans, still need the PCM to run it.
