Truck starts and drive BUT P0136 w/ new o2 sensor
Hello, I bought a 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 Auto 2wd with 205k about 6 months ago had it when it had multiple random misfires.
Changed the PCM out with a brand new one. PCM works because I put it in another guys truck and it worked in his 4.7. He drove it floored it it works changed the camshaft position sensor (Now it wont start) changed throttle position sensor changed Idler Air Control Valve All O2 sensors Spark plugs seem to be change out because when I bought the truck it had the spark plugs in the truck bed changed out the coil pack Battery is new Alternator works Starter works Wires are good Changed out the ABS sensor A facebook friend of mine said the woodruff key is knocked out and he said while I'm at it I should change out the timing chain. I asked a local Dodge lover if that was the case he said no because I would hear it and feel it if that was needed. Where is the Crankshaft position sensor located I want to change that too. I think that is the part I need to get the car to start up. I put the old Camshaft position sensor and it starts up (but with multiple misfires.) What does the Crankshaft position sensor look like and where is the part location on the truck? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...29f66789b.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...aad3f36dc.jpeg (running and driving with Mutiple misfires old camshaft position sensor) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dodgefo...540b1a078.jpeg |
Check for codes. You don't need a reader.
With the key OFF, turn it to RUN (not start), back to OFF, then to RUN, back to OFF, and this time leave it in RUN. Any codes will appear in the odometer window. The CKP is on the right side of the engine at the rear. It fits into a hole and can be very difficult to remove. |
I have located where the crank position sensor is.

Finally got it out. This is the old crank position sensor has a little dent on it and lost it's magnetic capability. Installing the new one now (duralast) |
Truck still refuses to start what else could it be I know the fuel pump works. I scanned the obd2 and the code P0340 came up..
|
P0340 is no cam signal at pcm.
The cam and crank sensors both use the same power supply. You should have 5v between the orange and black wires. |
Replaced the autozone cam position sensor with a Mopar cam position sensor truck starts up and seems to have a misfire like the one that came with the truck.
Confirmed the old one was a Mopar cam position sensor at the dealership. |
I noticed the magnet on the this new mopar camshaft sensor is pretty strong.
