What does this go to on the 01 Dakota's
I saw it after removing lower panel

It is the diagnostic junction port. It is a subset connector that is used for computer buss diagnostics I believe.

So it's a different diagnostic connector ?
​​​​Obd2 is to the left of it about 10 inches..

it's not a diagnostic connector for sure. but what the heck is that ??? my 99 dak and friend 02 durango doesnt have this

In the FSM, anything electrical with purple/yellow trace is a diagnostic port tap.

Some vehicles use a special connector called the Diagnostic Junction Port (DJP) which serves as the "hub" of the bus. The Miller special tools (8339 and 8360) are designed to connect to this test point for bus diagnostics. The DJP is a connector located behind the knee bolster or near the steering column, and it provides an access point to isolate most of the modules on the bus in order to assist in diagnosing the circuit. Chrysler stopped using Diagnostic Junction Ports in 2003.
