Default Changing Speedo Lights

I am looking to spice up the interior of my truck a little (99 dakota r/t) I'm getting kind of tired of the plain green speedo and tach lights. I was thinking about changing them to red to match my truck. Does anyone know how to do this. Are the green lights just LED's? I changed the lights on my friend's celica....them were just LED's, so to change them we removed the old ones and soldered news LED's on the speedo console. If this is possible, does anyone know how to also change the lights on the vent controls and the ashtray light?
Thanks for any input
Dave

been there, tried that, aint gonna work. the bulbs are jsut regular white bulbs. if u peel the gauge 'paper' pff and shine light though it, u will see that light passing though that is what makes it gree, not the bulbs. so if u were to, lets say, put red bulbs, in, the gauges wouldnt light up red. i wanted to do everything in my truck light up red, but no1 makes red gauges that i like, so im leaving them for now.

Yeah I did a little more research and hound the same thing. But some guys did blue using wide angle LED bulbs and they said it turned out fine. They have pics of it. I don't know yet...I think I'm gonna look around some more. Mike, do you know if anybody sells a whole new gauge face?
Thanks
Dave

well what i found, is if you put white light (such as a white LED) it will light the gauges blue. so using white LEDs to make them blue makes sense. there are a TON of places that sell the whole gauge face. APC, NR Automobile Accessories are a coupple that come to mind. best idea is to jsut go on ebay, theres a an ebay store that sells them and they also have the heater contoll pannel to match.

Looks awesome Natedogg. The picture shows the low end of the speedo being dim, is that just because of the camera? And are the needles pretty bright?
Thanks

Blue looks cool on everything but I was wondering how red would look? Anyone have any pictures?

The needles are a bit brighter, you can still see how fast ur goin. and the gauges are brighter in person.
