Default Can't get audio through head sets

I have an 06 Durango with VES system. I have tried the scan button, I've made sure I press the mode button until I reached DVD. The sound only comes out of the speakers, not the head phones. The Durango manual says to refer to the VES manual, but I have no VES manual. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the headsets working? Listening to the kids movies on trips back home is killing me!!

THe VES manual reads:

THe rear audio system must be turned ON before sound can be heard from the headphones.

They must be in line of sight to the screen to work and powered on.
First press the 'mode' button to toggle the system between available modes (CD,Radio). The radio and VES may share a mode (this is your case) or operate independently. If they are in shared mode, the radio display will show reverse text for the mode indication. You can PM me if you need a copy of the manual that pertains to the VES faxed to you as my scanner is down at work,

Default VES Headphones

It does say shared mode, question is how do I take it off shared mode, or can I. I leave for a trip back home Monday and I'd love to get this working before then.

Default VES Headphones

My main issue is Getting the headphones to work, at all. I put new batteries in them, but I can't get any sound out of the headphones. I tried pressing the scan button but nothing happens. I've also made sure I'm in the 2nd row when I try to use the headphones. Nothing happens though, no sound. Any help with that? If I take it off shared mode will it possibly cycle through somehow and make them work?
