New Engine

Hello, I just bought a new engine for my 2004 durango 4.7L and I wanted to know is it necessary to replace the plastic intake manifold as the dealer is trying to make me do? I am having a hard time finding one anyways. There is nothing wrong with the one on there now I figure if it is cleaned properly.

Why does the dealer want to replace it? They should be able to give you a reason better than 'just because'.......

Welcome to DF! :)

Welcome to DF. As HeyYou says, why are they telling you to replace it? A little more detail will help us help you. Moving to the correct technical section.

sounds to me like they are doing there job of trying to sell you something new when you dont need it> unless there is a defect in the part the old one will work just fine

Wtf????

I thought they were starting on my engine this morning when the dealer called, but he called to tell me my Durango's back window was busted out and $3,000 system was stolen while at the dealership. WTF...... The service manager said all we have to do is lock your door and thats all we are responsible for.

wrong they are also repsonsible for putting you vehicle in a secured area i would tell them you will lawer up if they dont "show you the money"

I agree. They are responsible for your car while it is in their lot.
