It's your starter. The new bullet design starters usually don't warn. They just dead stop. They don't return enough to tell itself the gear is home so it will not engage. By that they also will not dim the lights or anything else. If you have any mechanical skill you can pull the starter, open it, clean all the black residue out of it and apply a bit of anti-seize compound. Very little as in put it on your finger and rub it in. Put it together and it will work. They all build up residue inside and the colder it gets the more likely they are to just plain stop. They seldom burn out the motor. Should get ya about 6 months or longer.
