Default New member in need of help asap

Ok people so i have a 2006 dodge durango,124k miles.The issue that im having is every time my tank gets low on gas the check engine light comes on and the car seems to resist taking off rpms raising really high but once i fill up the check engine light usually goes off and the car rides normal again . I have no idea what this could be please help and thanks in advance.

What code is the PCM setting when the tank is low??

Im not sure what the pcm is,sorry not car savvy at all is that like the code reader thingy at discount auto parts store ?

Yes. Take it to an auto parts store and have them read the code. That will tell you what's wrong.

Let's be careful here. The diagnostic code won't likely tell someone what's wrong, but rather which system or sensor is identifying an out of specification condition. Just because a code says something like "misfire detected on cylinder 1" or "HO2S B1S1 reading lean" does not meat the spark plug is bad or the oxygen sensor is bad. It could be a fuel injector, vacuum leak, coil, manifold gasket, etc. The diagnostic codes give a person a starting point but often requires further diagnosis to determine the faulty part.

I don't know if it matters, but yours is not a 3rd generation Durango.

That's right. Fuel actually cools the pump down. Or, the sump part of the fuel pump is cracked and not holding fuel. That or you have some crap settled in the bottom of your tank.

Never run the tank to empty.
