Default New durango owner with radio problems

Well i just picked up an 05 Durango limited for the wife and we are having some problems with the radio in it. This one has the 6 disc cd changer with navigation unit in it. The problem we are having is the screen is completely black on it. If we put a cd in it will play that but it won't play the am/fm radio. Im kinda stumped on why it would still play the cd player part of the radio but not the fm part. Does this mean i need a new radio for it or is there something else im missing on it?

Thanks,
Ben

Disconnecting the battery cable will not resolve the problem; it's a waste of time.

Your 2nd Generation Durango is experiencing a very common problem where the display will fade, flicker, and ultimately stop working. Mine has been out for 2 years. I can only listen to the FM presets, so it's definitely a real drag. I personally refuse to pay $800 for a factory radio. I'd be happy to have it repaired, but that's quite a gamble too. It's also tricky to find an aftermarket head unit that will fully integrate with the rear entertainment system.

So in other words I'm pretty much out for a radio for this vehicle. Guess I need to start looking around for a replacement for it.
