Default Error Code P0152

I have a 2002 Intrep with a error code P0152. Could this be related to the Catalytic Converters. Obviously the car is older with 120,000 plus miles. The manual suggest a Oxygen Sensor input voltage sustained a above normal operation. I still have the original exhaust system. Any thoughts-------thank you.

Error 0152 is for the left bank upstream oxygen sensor so it won't be your cats. It may have an internal short to the heater element wire or other wiring problems but the easiest way to check is to put another on it. If it's malfunctioning the cars computer will run in the limp home (open loop) mode and your miliage will be terrible. Since the vehicles have 4 of these sensors and you want to go a lot more miles I would suggest youget at least the front two and if possible the rear two and install them together from a lower miliage car (wrecked or blown motor). As the sensors age they become less responsive even when they are still working and this will bring your miliage down about 15 percent. If they malfunction and the vehicle is in open loop operation it will be much worse than this. The two front ones control most of the fuel efficiency and the downstream are to monitor cat efficiency and for minor fuel trim. Have fun.

Thank you for such a detailed answer. Could I just put new sensors in?

Yep, I have that same problem - error code p0152 also p0132. It is the two upstream O2s. I am seeking to replace them both. I hope this rectifies the error code... Reply if you solved your problem...
