Hallo.

I just bought a beat-up 99 intrepid on Friday (traded in my truck for a beater, long story).. Anyway, the brake light came on on Saturday after I tested the parking brake and it won't shut off again. As far as I can tell, the parking brake is not engaged at all, and I've re-set and re-released it a couple times since then trying to get it to turn off.

Are there other things I can try to get it to reset? Or could it be something else? The manual just states that the (brake) light just comes on when the parking brake is engaged.

well, I'm a dork.. I went out to do a little cleaning on the interior and thought "hm, maybe I just need to pull that parking brake pedal out a little bit to make sure it released all the way" and sure enough, the light went off. Return spring must be just old enough to not pull the pedal all the way back to off when it's released. DOH

Anyway, question answered. So far I'm loving the car, I just hope it gets me to work & back until I can land a full-time gig.
