help rattle when starting
hi there,
If anyone can chime in before tommorow would be greatful.
Since 2 days ago, (when it really got cold).
When starting getting a very bad rattle, like a piece of metal is loose.
Also when starting all the needles on the dash when fully to the right, then back to normal, on reving you get the rattle..
ok so today (not started the car for 2 days) and call I got was the starter just clicking but, the radio didnt loose power, on jump starting no problem.
I found that if I take the rev's to around 1500 I get a rattle, over that and its fine.
The battery is not even 1 year old, and I cleaned all the terminals and greased them before winter.
I "think" the belt is loose and hence meaning the alternator is not getting a charge.?
does this sound about right and "easy" way I can check my-self, BTW how do I rev the engine from inside the engine bay? cant see a way to do that.
thanks
