16 vs 17 rim vs performance

Hey guys, I can't make up my mind between a 16 or 17" rims... can someone lay the detail out straight for me? I know the 17" wheel looks nice but I was wondering what the performace difference between a 16 or 17" rim difference would be... sometimes i would get a stock civic reving their engine at the light and i was able to take them but then i'm running a 14" steelie right now. my question is would a 17" slow down the acceleration greatly when compared to the 16"? also does anyone know about the difference between a 14" steelie to a 16 or 17 aftermarket wheel? Here's what i'm looking at for a 16" but if things aren't too bad with 17" then i'll dish out a bit more to get a 17"

If you want performance, I'd say 15's or 16's are probably the best size for a neon. 17's look nice, but usually they weigh a lot and its more rotational weight. On the dragstrip I have run both my 15's and 17's. With the 15's and stock rubber I ran a 16.05@86. With the 17's and some kumho rubber I ran a best of I believe 16.1@88. I made more passes with the 15's, but I don't know 100% sure that I could have hit the same time. I think I could have probably dipped into the very high 15's by sticking with the 15" wheels. If you're not hardcore about speed then I'd say go with either 16 or 17 inch wheels. Just pick something that is somewhat lightweight and you shouldn't notice that big of a difference. BTW...I can't see what type of rims those are. It doesn't seem to work.

yeah, you've gotta copy and paste the whole link including the " ) " at the end of the link, otherwise it doesn't show the picture

sorry for not replying for so long... i've been moving recently and ran into contract problems and had to live in a motel for a few days... only thing that freak me out about living at a motel is having someone coming up to my car in the middle of the night and do something to it... I slept with the blind open so i can see my neon :eek:so, back to the subject... if i'm happy with the 14" steelie's weight right now... would most aftermarket wheel be lighter? ex. 14" steelie's weight = 16" aftermarket wheel (i'm talking about the majority ones...not the lightweight)... i guess what i'm trying to ask is... is 14" steelie heavier than regular aftermarket ones? either vs the same size or larger aftermarket size. I don't want to put on a larger aftermarket wheel and lose to a stock civic [&o]

good luck trying to find GOOD performance tires for 16" rims..... go with 15" or 17" easier to find tires :)
