Swaying
Hi,
i just purchased a 2004 Dodge Neon with 34000k on it from a dealer and has a 3 year full coverage warranty.
i was driving down the highway at about 120km/h and noticed that it felt like the car was swaying left and right, as if my steering wheel was not moving but was still telling the vehicle to slightly move left then right. Its very strange and hard to describe other than what feels like driving on Butter.
Any ideas what could be going on?
Thanks in advance!

HAHAHAHAHA yeah i know that wind also causes what i described (note its hard to describe what the feeling is like ) but the thing that is causing me to be concerned is that i just purchased this vehicle after trading my 1997 ford escort.
Now that escort was not in very good condition at all, requiring the struts, coil springs, and rear brakes needing replacement and it overall felt 10x worse than how nice it feels to drive the dodge neon. Although the reason why i am posing this concern of mine is that i drive this stretch of highway at least once a week and the driving never felt the way it does in my neon as it did in my escort.
Sure my escort needed a wheel alignment badly but i never felt the swaying motion that i feel now.
Its like you have been standing in a wave pool for a good 30 minutes and get out, you can still feel the waves on your body.
Eugh... i wish it was not so hard to describe...

Hi, i went out and pushed down on my neon to check the suspension and from what i could tell it seems fine, i was not following a semi and it happened for the entire ride. My tires are not worn and still have lots of tread, but how could i check for a bad tire further than that? Oh also the tire pressure is even in all four tires.
Thanks for your advise on what to check, any other suggestions? i am kinda stumped other than an alignment problem, but i have never had to deal with any alignment issue so i have no idea what i should feel/check for...
P.S.
Its a big late for calling the Dealership but would an alignment be covered under a full warranty from the Dealership? i purchased this warranty and it is for 3 years/60000km's so i am crossing my fingers its just that shouldn't they check to make sure the vehicle doesn't pull or sway before selling it?
A full inspection was done on the vehicle before it was sold to me, so maybe they missed something???

i have to agree with the wind answer. mine sometimes does that also. for some reason, (maybe the bada** styling of the neon), it seems to be affected by a tiny bit of wind sometimes. shoot, if im sitting at a light waiting to make a left, as the oncoming cars pass me, sometimes my car does a little side to side shimmy from the wind they create. dont sweat it.
