for the 2009 models, they are now making them also with V6's, so i think they will be priced around like 22,000 - 25,000

Different type of vehicle. Vehicles are taxed according to their weights/purpose/wheels and generally speaking, there isnt a reason why a car in this day and age should get less then 25mpg..

They are punishing you for having a car that sucks gas and spits it out in the air, lol.

Devils and Midnight are both correct on this one... the gas guzzler tax has been around as long at least since the early 1990s. Its supposedly just for vehicles that fall into a certain weight class, insurance class, original MSRP, and of course, MPG divided by # of rated occupants in the vehicle, etc. Somewhere along the line though, all that just became BS. It used to be just for Vipers, Vettes, imported exotics, etc... if you buy a Viper, its a $3000 add-on to the bill. But they even have the gas-guzzler tax now on the Saturn Sky Redline... which I think is BS considering the car overall.

You would think all the Federal tax money that you would pay per gallon of gas filling up a "gas guzzling" vehicle would be more than enough to satisfy the government... but basically, if the government notices a car that they think only people with deep pockets are going to buy, theyre gonna squeeze every bit of extra $$$$ they can out of you because they know they can.

And I agree, there is no reason why the new Challenger or most other production vehicles shouldnt get at least 25 mpg... maybe we should just have a mutiny get rid of the EPA... lol.
