Hi to everybody ! im new hear , my mom bought 2004 sxt neon (35k miles) and im happy to be a new member of this forum ;]

I live in florida and im about to change(1st by me) the oil in neon. i thinking about castrol gtx 10w40 or 5w-30 ( i think dodge recommends this one). is 10w40 gona be ok ? and also question about oil filter should i buy from dealer or You recommend something from advance auto parts ? Oh and how many Qt of oil i need ? Thank You !

i have the same vehicle. only use what your owners manual suggest. either 10w-30 or 5w-30 is fine. 10w-40 isnt recommended. your car takes 4 1/2 quarts. as for your oil filter, get it from your local parts store. its alot cheaper

I think on the 2004's, 5W-20 is recommended though 5W-30 would work too. 4.5 quarts with filter. As for the filter, the SuperTech ones from Wal-Mart are actually pretty decent for the price. They are much better than Fram as well.

i had to think about that for a sec. its only calling for 5w-30 or 10w-30. i went and looked

Maybe I'm thinking of the damn 05's...

EDIT: Yep, the 05's recommend 5W-20.

I'm running 5W-20 Castrol Conventional in my car with a regular walmart filter.. Never a problem

ive been using amsoil and a wix oil filter for almost 5 years without problems. i also switch between 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 in the summer

5w-30 year round for me. Been running synthetic since the 2nd oil change. Never had a problem. I have considered running 0w-30 year round instead. But why change when the 5w-30 has never done me wrong?

see i was thinking about doing the 0w-30 myself at one point. i have a couple friends that use it in their neons as well all year round without problems, but that stuff it just too thin for me to trust
