The FSM says it three times in the procedure. My car is now throwing a P0700 code, as well as another, and is completely shutting off while driving. It is strange for that code to be there though, if that part is not present in his transmission.

I know what the FSM says, the FSM says a lot of things that are not correct, true or necessarry. I just changed a solenoid pack on a 03 neon. because it was leaking. I installed the old style with separator plate (cuz it was free). Put it all together and trans shifts fine, no codes, no quick learn required. afterall these transmissions, learn as they go. Prior to abougt 1993 the tcm didn't have a quick learn proceedure. The FSM had a whole proceedure to do to re-learn the tcm like after a rebuild.

Still none of this is the guy's problem. The p0743 code does not exsist for 2002. I also don't see any ways shape or form that the overdrive transmission is causing the car to shut off.

The biggest problem is theres been a lot of mis information and the wrong pcm installed along the way, not to mention the car sounds as if it started as a basket case.

I always understood them to learn on their own too. I'm still going through everything, and will probably take everything apart again. I appreciate the input.

Anyways, I agree about the incorrect code and the need to correct it.

I would take a scanner and read TCM data and codes from the TCM and not thru the PCM

ok i didn't even know about another computer on this car. So how exactly do i individually scan the TCM. Sorry if that seems like a dumb *** Question.

And as far as information missing. I apologize once again. but im telling you all that i know. I did get the car and it was in limp mode. So what exactly do you guys need from me to facilitate this better for everyone out there trying to solve my problem

you need to be able to access the TCM. This requires a better scanner than those 'toy' code readers.
