Popping/ clunk when turning left

hello I have a 2004 Dodge SX 2.0 AKA neon and when I turn sharply left 30% of the time I will hear a loud pop from the driver side

I lifted the car up and put it in drive and turned the wheel left and right and there is no noise leading me to believe the CV shafts are good

The sway bar bushings look good

I am hoping someone can give me some in-site because its a 120km round trip to my parents shop and I would like to get the correct part the first time

I am hoping lower ball joint but the only tool I have is a 4 foot pry bar and the crappy jack that comes with the car and a basic socket set...

I have an extensive amount of tools at my parents shop though :)

What would the best way to check the ball joint for play be? I've always used a hydraulic jack and when down fast why having a second person check for movement but that is not possible atm.
Thanks in advance.

Ok I insert my pry bar in-between the control arm and the spindle right next the the ball joint and I am not seeing any play
Any other ideas of what it might be?

control arm mounts maybe?

I just noticed there is play in my control arm bushing
its identical to this

Typically the bushing will only make noise once it entirely pops out. So if yours has done that, then that is most definitely your noise.

Another good thing to check with these cars is the outer tie-rods.

well took the car apart today the cv shaft was screwed on the inner joint, and the sway bar linkage was also ****ed can't believe I missed that one... replaced both parts and the cars like new again.
$16 for sway bar link
$120 for CV shaft
$21 for control arm bushing
And best of all I gained a lot of knowledge from this repair.

What was wrong with the inner joint? Just curious.

If I would have cut the boot it would have probably came the apart, I could pull the shaft out of the joint. I had a 92 golf before this and when it died I parted it out and both shafts did this so it would have lasted a while longer golf had 490,000km when the odometer stopped. I just didn't like the noise of the cv joint popping on full lock turns around parking lots. The car only has 120,000 and I am getting ready to sell it so I don't want there to be any issues with it.
