Buy or dont buy
I was looking to buy another neon.
I found one locally and planed to look at it either this week ro next. One issue that I know of is: P0743 code I did a little research and came to the conclusion it could be multiple things. Depending on the issue it could be a cheap or some what expensive fix. Its not like its a friends car where maybe we can mess with the car before I buy it. The car will also need to go through admissions and i am pretty sure it wont pass with this code. 100k miles Would this be worth the investment. I honestly don't want to throw too much money into another car NOR do I want to buy a car that WONT pas admissions. |
how much of an "investment" is it?
for a car that @ minimum is 8 years old, 100k, with a possible flaky trans? (also due for the timing belt/water pump - 105k miles/105 mo[8.75 years], and if the timing belt breaks, you are looking @ an engine rebuild/replacement) anything over $1500, walk away.... if you were to buy it, stick to the easiest /cheapest fix first. Change the Transmission Fluid (w/atf+4 ONLY). a quick google of that code, the first possibility that comes up is low/dirty trans Fluid. if you're lucky, that will either be the problem, or buy you enough time to pass inspection/emissions testing. |

did a carfax and things came up a little shady when it came to the miles.
I guess the engine was changed one with less miles. |
possibly a good deal there even if the motor was changed out, a compression check & leak down test would be worth your time before spending the cash
