Compressor venting during charge; still have 10oz to go

Hey guys. I'm hoping for some insight here on a few things. First, I'm working on a 2002 Neon SE, 2.0L. The AC compressor and drier were recently replaced. While charging the system, the compressor began venting after 1.5lb charge with high side pressures spiking to >500psi. At first glance I thought the system was over charged, but I checked the specs and verified 1.8lb charge. The low side seemed too low vs. the high side pressure so a restriction in the condenser was assumed. The condenser has been replaced - no change. The system has been flushed several times now.
Also, what controls expansion on this system? This is the first AC I've worked on without an expansion device of some type.
Any suggestions from the pros will be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved! The orifice tube is located inside the liquid line similar to the way Dodge did the Rams a few years ago. It was completely clogged. We replaced it with orifice splice kit and it's running great.

just my past exp with a/c if it was plugged you should have re-flushed the system if you are like me an keeping it till the wheels fall off ;)

how were you able to flush the system with a clogged orifice tube installed??

take them out an clean them with denatured alcohol & 20 psi compressed air, also replace the high & low side valve cores when you have the system off pressure. sorry for the late responce
