Q's about CE light
 

I have a 2005 neon sxt and last week I was running about 50mph mashed it too the floor to get thru a yellow light and let back off and the CE light came on. It also shifted back and forth between gears fast as if it was confused which gear to pick. The CE light started flashing so I turned the car off and back on and it didn't flash. I later unhooked the battery to get rid of the light.

2 Questions:
Will the CE light come on if the car is redlined by downshifting to too low of a gear?
How long are the codes stored in the computer? I took it to the dealer about 4 days later and the head mechanic said since I unhooked the battery to get rid of the CE light they could not check the code history and I wondered if this was true?

Well i know when i was driving i redlined it by accident and the check engine light came on for about 2 or 3 seconds. I think it is just because you redlined it.
