Thumbs up DIY - How to Properly Debadge your Truck

After getting a call today by Pyro who was giving himself fits trying to debadge his truck and basically getting nowhere with a bottle of Goo Gone and a plastic scraper after an hour in his driveway, I told him to come over and I'd show him the right way to do it.

By the way, that's Pyro in the pics. I could look that much like a dweeb if it was halloween.

You basically only need some fishing line (the newer braided lines work best) and the most important thing is to have a "pinstripe remover".
Order yourself one of those astro wheels. You only need the pad which are available online for about $12.

Now remove the chrome badge with fishing line. After taking the badges off with a sawing motion, what is left is the sticky felt stuck to the truck. This is the part so many people have a problem with. Everyone makes this step much harder then it has to be..

Put the eraser wheel into your drill and using the edge of the wheel at a medium speed go over the felt on your truck. you can use high speed but it turns everything into dust. When the wheel is spinning you want to have the felt be pushing out from under the wheel not pulling it under the wheel. If you choose a high speed, don't let the wheel just sit in one spot, keep it moving. The wheel is fairly soft, but you could possibly burn off the clear coat.
When the felt and glue is off you will have eraser marks on your paint. They come off very easily with a little Goo Gone or Bug and Tar Remover with little more than a light wipe of a rag.

Now simply polish the area with whatever wax/polish you choose.

You are now finished!
Any ghosting will eventually go away with polishing and exposure to sunlight.
