Post Tow Ratings

The following tow ratings are officially for 2001 Dodge Rams, but the numbers should be very close to or the same for all 1994-2001 Dodge Rams. Keep in mind, this is meant to be a guideline. We here at Dodge Forum are not responsible for anything you choose to do to your vehicle based on these numbers.

Ram 1500:
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab 3.9L V6: 3500 lbs
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab 5.2L V8: 7950 lbs
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab 5.9L V8: 7950 lbs
  • · 4x2 Club Cab/Quad Cab: 7500 lbs
  • · 4x4 Regular Cab: 7500 lbs
  • · 4x4 Club Cab/Quad Cab: 7200 lbs
Ram 2500:
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab 5.9L V8: 8900 lbs
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab V10: 13400 lbs
  • · 4x2 Regular Cab Diesel: 14150 lbs
  • · 4x2 Club Cab/Quad Cab 5.9L V8: 8600 lbs
  • · 4x2 Club Cab/Quad Cab V10: 13200 lbs
  • · 4x2 Club Cab/Quad Cab Diesel: 13850 lbs
  • · 4x4 Regular Cab 5.9L V8: 8400 lbs
  • · 4x4 Regular Cab V10: 13000 lbs
  • · 4x4 Regular Cab Diesel: 13700 lbs
  • · 4x4 Club Cab/Quad Cab 5.9L V8: 8150 lbs
  • · 4x4 Club Cab/Quad Cab V10: 12700 lbs
  • · 4x4 Club Cab/Quad Cab Diesel: 13400 lbs

These trailer tow ratings are designed to provide acceptable performance for normal conditions of temperature, grade and altitude. Maximum Trailer Weight Ratings must be decreased by the weight of: optional equipment, trailer hitch, cargo in the truck, and passengers other than the driver. Maximum engine cooling option may be required to achieve maximum trailer weight rating
