What Did You Do To Your 2ND GEN RAM Today?
Spending a good time of yesterday and today I finally got around to changing out my valve cover gaskets and cleaning and testing my injectors. Much more involved than I anticipated. I had everything ready except forgot to buy a couple extra injectors just in case. Got a reading of 11.7 ohms on one of them and the rest were reading about 12.1. I'm wondering if that low reading is off enough to be causing the random idle misfire I've been chasing. They all seemed to spray good. Nobody around had the injector in stock and I had to get the truck back together for use. Just made sure I put that one on the front left side so I can possibly change it later without having to tear too much apart if it completely fails. Fired it up and got a po123 code and no 3rd/od now. Gonna have to see what that's all about tomorrow. Battery has been feeling weak with the cold the last couple weeks so replaced that. Now I think it might partly be the starter. And I still haven't got around to pulling my trans pan again and seeing what all that looks like. Oh I have to start getting ready to move out of my place too. Damn
So yesterday after putting the new battery in, I drove it some and went to restart it. It felt a little sluggish turning over, so I though maybe the starter want still part of my weak cranking I've had. I started right up this morning, drove to work and parked it. Someone needed me move my truck and when I go to start it I got dead battery. Just coasted back to get out of his way. After work it barley fires up and I notice my gauge reading low on charging so i'm thinking ok, alternator has decided to go bad. Pull it out and get a ride to the part store where they test it twice and it reads good. Take it back and put it in the truck and get a jump. Still not charging. Then I start checking out wiring and I go into the fuse box where I find the fusible link blown. When I was doing the work over the weekend, my negative battery cable hit the battery post in a wrong way and blew the fuse. I think that's the first time I've had that happen with a cable hitting the post. Lesson learned.
