2nd Gen Ram Roll Call
#21
First car: 1968 Dodge Coronet 440. Original owner was a friend of the family, and I rode home with her when she picked it up from the dealer. On the way I told her that when she sold it, I wanted it. She called one day in late '75 or early '76 to say she was selling it and I had right of first refusal -- yeah, like I was going to refuse. I'd been saving my money since 1968 to buy it! It went from old lady car to street racer and was the one to beat in my (not small) hometown. No local ever beat it, very few of the out-of-towners who tried did. The Mrs. had a love/hate relationship with that car but now says we should build another. I'm not so sure that I'm up for it, though it is an appealing idea.
Current: 1998 Ram 1500 4x4, base model, 5.9l/auto. Bought it bone stock with 96k on April 8th. Have put a couple grand into it already but I'm nowhere near done.
In between the two: Far too many cars, trucks, and motorcycles than it would be reasonable to list here.
I plan to make the Ram my favorite vehicle ever. It's good having the kids grown and out on their own where they earn their own grocery money!

First car- 1980 something (I think it was 85 or 86) craparoo wagon 2.something liter. paid $75 at a car auction and it only needed a battery and an exhaust pipe then I drove it for about 6 months before it blew the radiator and I said screw it. It was junk and the top speed was 50mph unless you were going down hill but hey, the 4x4 worked on it.
Second car - 89 Thunderbird 3.8l. 290,000 miles when I got it and 240,000 when it developed a charging problem and I parked it. Only $500 for it with about $1000 for repairs (including $260 for a set of tires) over 4 years that I gradually got around to doing and I miss it.
Third vehicle - My truck, my baby. $15,000, got it with 74k miles and now it has 130k and y'all should know the couple mods I've done to it by now.
Fourth car - 91 Camaro RS 3.1l. 190k on it, paid $1000 and I'm getting there on giving it the TLC it deserves.
Fifth car - 2000 Chrysler Cirrus - free, just need to change the motor mounts and get it legal so I can enjoy that 30-35mpg.
Someday - mid 70's Stingray Corvette.

I'm coming in on this too...
1st car: 1988 Blue Saab 9-5, got 24-27 mpg and was a TANK in the snow like it had 4wd without snow tires. Liked it a lot. Then bought my current Ram which was my 2nd rig. Sold my Saab to afford new tires for my truck...then gas prices SHOT WAY UP and I immediately regretted getting rid of this car.
2nd Vehicle: My current Blue Dodge Ram. This thing is my baby nothing stands between it and me, yet. Lately it has been demoted to my winter rig, the rig I take out on dates which impresses the ladies, and the rig that pulls the boat. It doesn't get a lot of use but I love it more than my fourth rig.
3rd vehicle: My current 1988 Honda Accord. Well since I sold the Saab for new tires on the Ram and gas prices shot way up and the truck doesn't get great mileage I had to get a gas sipping vehilce. I actually hate this car, it's ugly and it won't die, I'm embarrassed to drive it. But it also does well in the snow without snow tires also like it has 4wd. It has damn near 200,000 miles on her and runs perfect and gets 27-30 mpg.
4th vehicle: My current 2003 Mini Cooper. I am a college student and commute to school 30 miles one way everyday. So gas mileage is very important to me. I bought this for a few reasons. One, I hate driving the honda, two, my ram costs too much right now to drive to school but I try to drive it at least once a week to school, three, I wanted a newer nicer car, and four the Mini is tons of fun to drive and gets 34+ mpg. Surprisingly it did well in what little snow we got this year.
There you have it. Three of those are my current vehilces. I also, as you might have found out, don't believe in snow tires. A good set of all seasons does just fine for me. Haven't been stuck once and we have had some record breaking snow the past two years, prior to this years winter.

First Car 1991 Ford Festy. And yes, it is possible to fit 12 people in them at one time.
Second Car 1988 Chevrolet Beretta GT Proof that True dual with glasspacks can sound awesome on a v-6.
Third Car 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue A 3.8 really does run like a V-8. Still have it even though it's been broke down for two years.
Fourth 1996 Jeep Cherokee sport. 4.0 liters don't die, but t-boning a kid in a subaru sure slows em down.
Fifth Mitsubishi 3000GT Great if you are single, not so hot if you have two kids any bigger than a cabbage patch kid.
Sixth 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT A great compromise between sport and practical. Handle abuse well. Even a Dodge Ram Impact! Still drive it.
Seventh 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Replaced the Jeep in my driveway, but not in the memories. But I'm a good father and love my truck equally. Always ready for action.
Eighth 2000 Dodge Durango Perfect for Family, Off-road, Getting your buds together for a road trip. Just beware the Gas Station.

Hmmm... First to now?
I'm gonna get the order wrong here I'm sure.
1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S
1989 Mercury Topaz
1988 Chevy Beretta GT (super high miles)
1988 Chevy Beretta GT (donor car that ran better than what it was donating to)
1987 Chevy S10 Extended cab 4x4 350SB with oil pan mod to clear the IFS
1982 Chevy Caprice 2DR Classic
1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Broughum
1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z
1989 Chevy S10 Blazer 2DR
1988 GMC S15 Jimmy 2DR 4x4 donor
1990 Chevy Beretta GTZ (Still own it)
1989 Cavalier Z24 (digital dash and 5 speed)
1997 Chevy Blazer (engine, trans, t case and axle later 415K miles still own it)
2005 GMC 2500HD Duramax (worst truck I ever owned ever)
2002 Camaro SS (wrecked by a "friend")
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4OR Still own it, don't drive it alot right now.
2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbocharged-current daily driver (does anyone wanna buy this? Payoff of payment take over, I love the car but I have that overwhelming feeling I'll lose my license if I keep driving it)
SO I think I missed a few but these are all the cars I owned legally and drove at least for a month on public roadways. Most cost me no more than a couple hundred bucks and some were traded for things like a season of plowing the driveway or doing some plumbing for a friend. And I'm 27.
