Hi all I'm looking for pictures of 2nd generation dodge ram 1500's with a leveling kit (2-3 inches) and 35" or equivalent tires.

First off I've always loved the stance of your truck so i have a few questions.

I just spent uber dollars on a lift so I dont want to just take it off and waste all of that money. So what is your take on adding a 2" body lift like what comes on the offroad editions so I can easily accommodate 35" tires.

I'm not a big fan of body lifts but this seems like the only way right now.

Well the ORE's actually come with a taller suspension from the factory, not a body lift. But if that's what it would take to make you clear them 35's, go for it. I personally don't like body lifts either, because I want my rigs to be built for the worst possible situation, not the best... but you can't argue with the price of a BL. Are you sure you can't clear 35's right now? You will need wheels with less backspacing (sticks the tire out of the fender farther) either way if you plan to use the typical 35x12.5" tire (315/75/16). A skinnier tire might get you out of buying new wheels, but it would look better with some offset anyway...

I would definitely be buying new wheels if I get the body lift or not. My gut feeling told me the OREs had a taller suspension but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that they came with a body lift :icon_doh:.
I could fit 35s but I don't like the look of stuffed tires. I'd rather have some wheelwell to work with.

The other thing is the rear bumper after the bodylift...
Do I get the bumper brackets and leave my hitch and exhaust pipes hanging an ugly two or more inches below my bumper?
Or do what I saw on a ram the other day that I thought was a great idea...Leave the bumper bracket off and fill the gap with a piece of diamond plate? :icon_shrug:

I had a body lift on my 2nd Gen in combo with a front level and ran 35s. It was the third truck I had put a body lift on.

I decided to try a suspension lift on my 3rd Gen. Out of seven full size, 4x4 trucks I've had in my life it's the first I did a suspension lift on.

Now granted, the 3rd Gens are IFS (so it sacrifices strength for ride quality, IMO), but the suspension lift is dramatically different off-road. With every BL truck I've had I could pretty much brace myself to be bounced around the cab when working around the farm, fishing or hunting. Not so with my current truck and the suspension lift.

If you can afford it, go suspension...

So I've pretty much talked myself out of doing a body lift now and I think I'm going to run 295/75/16 bfg all terrains on 16x8 steel pro comp wheels once the tires I have now wear down.

I unfortunately just don't have the cash to do gears right now if I want to run 35's

I'm going to be smart and do a few upgrades that I really want done and that should be done.

Hankook has there dynapro mr in that size as well if you'd like a more aggressive tire
