Alright cool beans. Timing just happened to work out that a coworker needed sliders started for his FJ40.

BTW, so far I'm planning to make your brackets out of 1/4" and it will use the stock frame rail for mounting.

Since I didn't do anything to the Ram, I'll post these here.

are you going to be using a 3rd gen bumper on yours for mock up, so they will be a perfect fit, or, do you have other ideas?

Not sure yet. Should be fine with what you gave me, however, my idea (so far) should allow flexibility on your end. You just drill and/or cut.

So I can't ensure a good fitup as I don't have access to a 3rd Gen bumper as I was hoping. I really need to know where the bumper brackets sit in relation to the frame mount location. That is what I was describing in my last email. The distances needed are offset rearward, offset height, and offset lateral. This is based on doing 1/4" plate cut to fit into the frame and using the stock bolt locations. Then there would be a cross piece b/t both brackets, like 1x3x.120 square tube or plate. This makes it one solid unit and would remove the sharp corners of the angle iron or whatever it was previously used.

Without some fitup dimensions, all I can do is default back to your previous way with some extra stuff. Only issue with the extra stuff is being mindful of clearance for the bolts on hitch and bumper bracket. So, I'll probably work with some plate and some other material unless otherwise brought to my attention.

Time is not on my side these days.. so it would ptobably be easier to just go with the original design and just make the as strong as possible. Clearance shouldnt be an issue. Just let me know how things go.

Did you ever get this finished? I want to get rid of my towing bumper and buy a receiver hitch and regular bumper, but I think the stock 2nd gen bumper looks kind of small and weak.
