i have an sks for playing and love shooting it. it never jams.
i hunt with a remington 700 in .308. it puts the body slam on the deer.

i used to hunt with an old ruger .44 mag carbine. i liked the gun because it was short, light, and fast, but it was a lousy cartridge. unless it was a neck shot, even the smallest bambi could run 100 yards after a good hit. i lost 2 good bucks that had good shoulder shots. they just kept running and eventually quit bleeding.
