I pulled a few people out last year in my dakota.. i always keep straps in my truck for that reason.

Im sure i'll get some people this year... those shoulders can be tricky.

Needless to say you need to choose wisely on who you pull out incase any damage occurs.
when I pull people out I say ill do it for free if they go underneath and hook up the strap them self other wise I charge if I have to do so

I don't pull unknown people out, gave up on that long ago. I will offer them my phone or take them to a place were they can get a tow truck or a ride. If I get stuck/break down I call a tow truck that way if they mess up my truck they can be held responsible for any damage done.

I haven't had the opportunity to pull someone out yet this season. Most of the times if it is someone I don't know who ends up in the ditch it's because they were either drunk or drugged. I've seen skid marks of some bad slip into the ditch episodes, some even happening without any ice snow or mud... Just dry gravel/dirt mix on the roads, someone took a curve to fast... The county is terrible about roads out here... They grade all the gravel into the ditches so that the roads are mud, and then they make the curves angle the opposite way they should so it is really easy to slide off of the road. You can be going 35 MPH on the road and then have to slow down to 15 to make a turn safely on one or two of them. Annoying. Maybe they get paid by the body shops to do this (Conspiracy?)?
