bigger cam

I have an 02 dodge ram 1500 5.9 gas engine and I was wondering where I could find a bigger cam for my motor?

Hughe's Engines and Comp Cams sells cams for our trucks. I've actually got one for sale as well. Check the User Classifieds for more info.

What do you want to do with your truck?
Do you need high end racing power?
Do you need low end stump pulling power?
Or do you just need a cool lumpy sound when you pull up to a light?

What other mods do you have to to compliment the desired cam?... a cam alone will not do a great deal... opening a valve earlier or longer wont do that much if the intake can't provide the extra volume of air, or the exhaust let it out the other side.
Do you have a tuner to work with the cam?

+1 on Comp Cams... they have some nice profiles for these trucks... if not going direct, you can get them from Summit.

What would be the best one for the HS 1.7 rockers? I'm also looking for one.

If you're going to use the H&S1.7's, you'll have to watch the amount lift on the cam.
A cam and 1.7's you will need new valve springs as well.

I'm looking at a CompCams 20-744-9 with H&S1.7's... this puts me at .512"/.512" valve lift.
With 1.6:1 rockers you get .480" valve lift.
Stock is .432", and the max (I believe) is .545".

ANY CAM besides the most mild of an upgrade. You SHOULD replace the springs.

It's not all about max lift, it's about opening and closing seat pressures.

I would only maybe run the R/T cam on stock springs. And it's a pretty mild cam.

Yup... choosing the right springs can be as bigger challenge as choosing the cam itself.
