Not sure about the shell

What do you guys think of the shell? I like it but at times I wish I didn't have it.

I like it better without the shell.

Think I am going to build a stand for the shell in a few weeks. last time i took it off it sat on the dirt in out pasture and the rubber seals didn't like that too much...not to mention the chickens thought it was a second house for them.

Thats what I did, I built a stand on the backside of my shed that holds if about 5' off the ground, out of sight. It stays there 90% of the time.

I would like to build a stand where I just back up to it and lower it back on. I also need to find a place that isn't always in this Arizona sun.

I had made something like that for my k5 Blazer to take the top off. It was 4x4 posts with some simple framing on top with pulleys on the corners so I could lift it off by myself.

I like it, but I like canopies. I am the kind who would have it on most of the time, but take it off only when I need to haul something big.

I know someone who had an alternative idea for easily removing the canopy. He has one with a rack, and on the roof of his garage he has this pulley system with ropes (maybe a block and tackle too) and he just loops it to the ropes and pulls it up, lets it suspend from the rafters.

Guy I know did that his jeep hard top. Changes between hard and soft for summer and winter. I would like to do that but sadly I don't have a place with a garage.

Unless the cap is keeping you from hauling stuff, I'd say keep it. It gives you a way to keep stuff secure and out of the weather. Your top looks like my ARE top.
