I hope you hear good things from the doctor today.

Well today was my first appointment with the Foot and Ankle clinic after surgery and will also be my last as long as there are no problems. Next week I start going to rehab clinic.

Makes my leg hurt just thinkin' about it.....
Do you need to let it heal for a time, before you can get a prosthetic? |
Yes it will be around 7-10 weeks before I am able to start using a prosthetic. The leg has to heal and while it is healing I will be getting it ready by doing some exercises with the leg. Right now until they take the stitches out there isn't a lot for me to do. Once the stitches are out then my fun begins.
I can't wait until next year when I can work on my engine and Jeep again. I want to finally get that thing back on the road and get up in the woods and relax. |

Well this is week 2 since my surgery. I go to the doctors each week to have my cast removed and the leg checked to make sure there isn't any issues with the stiches or an infection. So all is well again this week and they are happy with the progress of my leg. I could even see that my leg had shrunk in size. The best part of the day was the fact that when they put the new shrink sock on it didn't hurt this time like it did the last time.
They also washed my leg and cleaned around the stiches and the end of the leg. I was really weird to have the doctor touching my leg near where the stiches are but it feeling like she was touching the bottom of my leg. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...sirubxtnv.jpeg Showing how well I could lift my leg. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...sbo7kyy3p.jpeg Showing off more. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...sctiafyem.jpeg Looking at the end of the leg. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ssgi8mp8q.jpeg Feels good to have that cast off. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...stg2hltqq.jpeg Just relaxing http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...sanzilvf4.jpeg It felt so good to rub my leg a little. Then it was time for the new cast. |
Thanks for the update Rick. Looking forward to watching your progress. Definitely an inspiration to keep pushing.

So is there less pain in general now?
|
I just have to say that, being we just had Memorial Day, that I am so very very thankful for your sacrifice and service. Maybe when you're better I'll head over the pass and buy you a cold one. It's the least I could do. It's people like you who have given me the opportunity to live, love, work, and worship in freedom.
GOD BLESS YOU !!!!!! |
