15.80's
Ran one run tonight...its all i had time for, but it was pritty good. 15.805 @ 84.98 mph. didnt spin too much, weather was 1/2 decent. 58 deg. My R/T is down from before, im finally gettin the hang of the truck. but 2 full tenths is pritty nice considering the little bit of mods i did. that second to third shift is killin me though. Im pritty sure theres another tenth in there if i could get that fixed. i slapped the rev limiter hard and had to let off about a good 100 feet from the end. next time im going to have to leave the tonneau and tailgate at home.

Congrats! No vid?
My tonneau tipped the scales at 125lbs and tailgate was 65lbs. (spare 58) Dont pull too much weight off in cooler temps or traction will be a major issue. |

RE: 15.80's
At Clay City KY dragway a few years ago I saw a Ford pickup with an unusually lightweight and cheap tonneau.
The guy had used a sliding glass door 'storm window kit' to cover his bed with extremely thin clear plastic film. He got the aero benefit of the tonneau with just a few ounces of weight. He ran the double-sticky tape around the 3 sides and the top of the tailgate, stuck the plastic film edges to the tape, then caused the plastic to firm up tight by blowing on it with a electric hair dryer gun. I think he said he bought his kit for about $15 at a big box store called Mejiers in Lexington, but I think Walmart, Kmart etc have those kits too. |

Thats an IHRA track, must have pretty lax tech inspection to sneak that by. I had to remove an under the rail bedliner to pass tech at IHRA track I race at. ORIGINAL: IndyRamMan i notice your only runnin 102 in mph with 12s...im guessing i shouldnt expect high mph? my buddy was runnin 1424 last night @ 100.01, it just got me thinkin. At the track first time w/Procharger I had 5400rpm shifts making3.5psi boost (u/d pulleys to reduce boost/playin safe) with the SMT6 tuned MP PCM (no limiters). Ran great day before that but at the track it was crap. Tuned all night for a best of 13.8 @ 104mph in great conditions . The SMT6 was causing issues so I disabled it and ran the stock computer. Ran much better, put on stock pulleys and saw 7psi at 4900rpm shifts. Because I had to shift so much sooner, I had a choice. Run out 3rd gear to 1100' and either hold 4900rpms or put it in od. 1st pass held it, ran 13.04/100, next pass bit more off the line butcoasted from 1200' and ran 13.02/95mph. Final pass I used overdrive.(3.15 final) Took forever to shift/lock up and it hit the mph limiter (28" tires) @ 102. Conditions were crap with a strong headwind & 95% humidtiy. NA it would or run .5-.6 slower than usual in those conditions. How were the conditions for your 16.0 compared to 15.8? Ibet a couple more passes that night you would of run faster [8D] |
