Bar's Leak....any good??
 

Anyone had success with this stuff? I've got an invisible coolant leak/smell[:'(] from the engine area when the truck gets warm.

99 RAM 5.2L Quadcab

I would stay away from it not only will it fix , it will also ruin water pump ,clog up over time.. like using fix a flate , i charge double when i see that happens ( a freakin mess ) . start tracing the leak and fix it , dont patch it.

Yup I'd find it and fix it properly. Stuff like that is just a bad idea to use.

dont do it... find the leak & fix it. check the intake hose going back to the water pump, and check the t-stat housing. both are common spots for a leak.

Used it once. Cost me a head gasket 3 months later. X-Wife was driving & see did not see it overheating until way too late.

STAY AWAY from Bars leaks and the like!!! That nasty crap just gunked everything up and cost me a coolant flush on top of the real problem. It turned out to be a heater core that was cracked - good thing I had an extended warranty - but the warranty didn't do me any good when the mechanics saw what the coolant looked like. They didn't believe that I had taken proper care of the vehicle unless I did the coolant flush. Flushed $85 bucks down the drain for trying to take the quick/easy fix...

Buy a black light like the ones they sell at Petsmart to look for animal urine. Then start looking for coolant, I think it glows without dye, but if not, you can buy some dye at the auto parts store and add it to the system.

Check the heater hose over the passenger side manifold where they cut the line to do a heater core back flush, sometimes it leaks on startup and you can't find it because it evaporates when it hits the exhaust manifold.

Stay away from any snake oil, solution's in a bottle crap. It may be the cheaper alternative, but as I always tell My nephew, Pay a little more now or a lot more later. it may take a while, but just keep your eyes open and PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR TRUCK. take note as to when it happens and under what conditions. I'm have a leak as well and I think I've tracked it down to the rear intake end seal...I hope. Unless it's the freeze plugs in the back. Long story short, don't be lazy. Do it the old school way and fix it properly. Keep us posted. I'd like to know what it was. Good luck!!!
