In case you haven't been told...

So, I was driving through my neighborhood with the windows down the other day and I heard an odd noise from the left front wheel. When I got home I found that I had two broken wheel lugs and the other three nuts were loose. I replaced the studs and nuts and all is well, thank GOD that I found it before the wheel fell off (especially with my wife and kids in it). I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen? I do go out wheelingand was wondering if that would cause the nuts to loosen up. My truck is a 98 Q.C. 1500 4X4 with LT265/75 R16 tires.
The moral of the story is check your lug nuts for proper torque.

every time i take my wheels off, I always tighten the wheel lug nuts as much as I can before I put the wheels down , then when the wheels are on the ground, I check the wheel lug nuts to 100ftlbs. After I ride around for a bit, I recheck the lugnut torque again. sometimes they loosen a bit but not too much. Never had a problem with the lugnuts loosening.

I did a similar thing before... and ever since then I have always re-tightend with a torque wrench. It takes a few more minutes, but it gives you a chance to work on your guns :Dand gives you a piece of mind knowing that everything is on good.

I even tell the tires shop to hand torque everything when I take it in.

Glad everything worked out alright..
