2000 dodge ram 1500 sport 4x4 (pic's)
i just got this new dodge (well new for me) and i have a couple of questions, its my first vehicle.
it has the 5.9L with dual exhaust, i dont know what kind im trying to figure that out. and the next question is about the 4 wheel drive. how do you know if you have the limited slip on it. i dont think it has the off road package on it. but it has the 4 wheel drive. i was wondering was it possable to have 4 wheel drive and not have the off road package? http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w...9/IMGP0216.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w...IMGP0215-1.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w...IMGP0204-1.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w...9/IMGP0211.jpg |

That doesn't appear to have the offroad package. As for the LSD jack the rear end up and spin one tire and see if the other spins the same way or the opposite way. That will tell you if you have a LSD. Is it supposed to spin the same way with a LSD? I can't quite remember but thats how you check it. I'm sure someone else can tell you which way it will spin. As for the dual exhaust post up some pictures. Does the muffler have a brand name on it? Is it a true dual system or just a stock one with a single in dual out muffler?

Welcome to DF!

Another way to figure it out is to jack the rear end of the truck up. If you spin one wheel and the other turns the same direction, you have one. If not, then you don't. Quote:

The factory one seems to be junk so imo it wouldn't really matter to me. They are better offroad. Not like a locker but better still but the factory ones are such junk you'd be better off replacing it anyway. Minus well start with an open diff and replace that. Should be about the same as replacing the factory lsd. The clips seem to break off on quite a few people. I hear of them failing fairly often. I had an Auburn put in mine to replace the factory one. Detroit has another option thats popular.

I think I paid around $380-400 for the Auburn and another $400 I think to have one of the best if not best mechanics I know of around here install it. Everyone else says the same thing about him.
