if any one has a idea please let me know what to look at again. the RPM'S jump when at a steady speed like if you pushed the gas when going 55 and hit the brake. please help me i can not fiqure it out!!!1 THANK YOU |
RE: need help rpm's jumping
does it feel like the transmission is shifting ?
it could be shifting out of overdrive and then back in. this'd be about a 500 rpm change. or it could be unlocking the torque converter and relocking in. this'd be about a 300 rpm change. i'd think you could feel the shift... faulty throttle position sensor (tps) on drivers side of throttle body can cause excessive overdrive shifting. fairly cheap around $40-50 and 5 minutes to change. |
RE: need help rpm's jumping
Mine did this and it was a bad TPS. I replaced it and it went away. I'd check that first if not it might be the torque converter is bad but honestly this is exactly the symptoms a bad TPS seems to cause or at least it did for me so I'd try that.
They are super easy to change. They are on the side of the throttle body. They are torx bolts I think holding it in so you'd need either a torx socket or screwdriver. You just unclip the plug on it and take those two bolts out and it comes off then bolt the new one in and plug the wiring back up. |
RE: need help rpm's jumping
+1 TPS. Try cleaning it first. Theres a diy on it.

RE: need help rpm's jumping
mine was the same. it was the tps. i found out using a digital multi meter that it was only making .68 volts, so i drilled the holes out, and adjusted it, and now its making .75 and it works great.
