Default What type of fluid goes in the transfer case

Hello everyone, I will by changing my transmission this weekend and have started getting all of the fluids needed for the task. Since the transfer case will be coming out I thought it a good time to change the fluid, what type and brand would you recommend? I have a 98 1/2 ton 4X4 Sport with a 5.9L V-8. I am running 35 x 17 with 4:56 gears. Thaks!

ATF+4 so that if if the seal goes and it mixes with the transmission fluid nothing gets harmed. Use the same as in the transmission and imo and lots of others ATF +4 is by far the best way to go for these transmissions. Wayne from APS said he also recommends it so that's all I will run.

ATF +4 in t-case and auto transmission. its a synthetic.
tip #1. the recesses hex plug is 10mm, not 3/8. caution a 3/8 might strip it. if you don't have a 10mm hex, use a bolt head.
tip #2. remove the fill plug first and the drain plug second. that way if the fill plug strips your not stuck.
don't ask me how i know this.

thanks for all the help now if i can only get my best friend to find time to help me do this. He has all the impact tools at his house. I got in this predicament by being towed home ( 60 miles) at an avg speed of 60mph with the truck tranny in neutral but NOT THE TRANSFER CASE. I know idiotic. When I dropped the trans pan it was like I was panning for gold or in this case metal shaving in which there was ALOT.
