HELP! Truck won't start.

I have a 97 1500 5.2 2wd. This morning I went to the gas station and when I went to leave, my truck wouldn't start. The first time I tried, it just clicked. Then it would turn over but not start. The fuel pump is coming on. The batterys good(all the lights come on) It almost started once but just died like it wasn't getting fuel. Someone PLEASE give me some ideas. Oh and I checked all the fuses. (all good)

The pump can go on but not pump fuel, check the fuel pressure.

is there a nipple on the fuel rail? I can't just go look at it because it's not here.

Most do but some don't. But when you say it just clicked when you tried to start it that one one time, you should check all your grounds and positive cables at the alternator and battery. After you confirm they are OK, I would take the battery and alternator out and have them checked too. Even if the battery is new. Also check the connectors at the PCM.

Starter Strong? Relays Clicking? Fuses under hood?

Well, yesterday I went and bought a new fuel pump. $250. I took it to the gas station where my truck was and started unbolting the bed. I got the whole bed unbolted and my dad showed up. I stuck the key in it to show him what it was doing. The damn thing fired right up. Running better than ever so I brought it home. WTF is going on. Anybody else got any new ideas?

It is rare but at times when a starter motor is failing it will cause the problem you are having. The starter is affected by engine heat and seizes up when the clearance between the armature and field pole pieces closes up. The starter tries to turn but can't. Once the heat drops the clearance normalizes and the engine will start normally.
Hope this helps.

It turns over though. The starter just keeps spinning.
