Stalls in reverse

Stalls in reverse
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram and the engine will stall when I put it in reverse. After I have driven a short distance the reverse works fine with no stalling. It's just during initial starting up after it has been parked. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds engine related. The transmission puts a bigger strain on the motor in reverse. The pressure required for reverse is almost double for drive. The pump will be working harder. Since the pump is directly driven by the TC and the TC is directly connected to the engine, it stands to reason that the pump is directly connected to the engine.

Sounds like the same problem i was having except mine was when you put it into drive after its been sitting for a few weeks. Some times it would shut off or it would just about cut off. But if i took it for a ride it would be perfectly fine after that until it sits again. Some one on here told me to put it into neutral before going into gear and letting it sit for a few minuets and it stopped. I guess after a while all the fluid goes out of the lines and just settles in the transmission.
