Default New oil pressure sensor

Hey guys.

I've installed a new oil pressure sensor today. When i turn the key, not start the engine - the pressure gage needle already jumps 3/4 . When starting the car it jumps max to the right.

Now what could be causing this? The sensor was ordered by VIN & it looked right. Didn't check numbers od the parts when i had them next to each other.

Anyone any idea?

What was it doing before? If this is a new problem, or, just different from what it was doing before, bad sensor.

It was working fine before. i replaced it cause the tranny was out. With the new one it acts wierd.

Btw to check the trans fluid, car should hot and idling , go through all drives a few times and check in P or N right?
when hot the trans fluid should be between the 2 bumps on the dipstick ?

If the old oil switch wasn't cracked or leaking, might want to put it back and return the new one, as it sounds defective.

As for checking the transmission fluid, check it in neutral.

Is this where the tranny oil level should be when hot?

The trans fluid level should be further down the stick and there should be markings on it. Use some carb cleaner and rag to clean it up and try it again.

Oh crap. Guess there is going to be to much oil in the tranny. hope it didn't cause any damage... I'm hearing some ratling noise now coming from the tranny

Check it in neutral, it will read high in park.
