Radiator, who's replaced one?

Well, my Damn truck blew a frigging Radiator tonight right along the Drivers side seam where it meets up with the plastic rail it mounts with.

If you've replaced one, what did it cost and what did you use? I need a direct bolt up, no cobbling to make it fit.

I used the Mr. Radiator one from Napa (173 bucks). It's a perfect fit and I had no issues whatsoever putting it in. It's an easy job. To burp it after I refilled it I just jacked the right corner of the truck up and kept adding until it stopped bubbling and was stable for a while. I had to add about a quart to the overflow jug after a few miles of driving.

Damn, squirrels! Is your truck just falling apart of something? One prob. after another!

Is that price with a core charge, mine needs replacing soon and I am trying to figger out what I am gunna do with it, pull it first and get around the core or not.

No core. It was 173 bucks free and clear.

If I remember right I think I got mine at Auto Zone for a 89 K-car. Back then it was less than $100. No problem changing it but a Haynes repair manual might be a good purchase also.:D

Rip the old one out and throw the new one in!

Remember the special tools to disconnect the tranny lines. And check the size of the fittings on the new radiator compared to yours. The rad I got from NAPA caused me to do some creative bending of the cooler lines because the NAPA one wasn't exactly the same as my original. Of course it was supposed to be a direct replacement. :(

Mine was exactly the same as the OEM one.

Yeah, I just got the Proliance Rad from O'Reilly Auto and the friggin' trans fittings aren't the same. I'm going to have to take the fittings up to NAPA and get a brass adapter to neck it down. I got the old one off and going to have to wait until tomorrow to finish her up.

I'm getting really fed up with this run of problems. I know all vehicles go thru spells, but this run has lasted a little too long.

The coolant system is starting to worry me, I've had a freeze plug corrode out on me and now the rad lets go. Not sure how to stop all that corrosion, I might have to take it to the shop and pay for a complete flush of the system.
