To each his own. I don't get paying 5-600 for a car payment, but I want to retire young, so I'm cheap like that.

Why is he selling. From all the tranny problems? Gas milage? Hates black now? Loves rice?

Yes, it's true, I am trying to sell my truck. I love my dodge ram so much, but I think now is the best time to sell it while it's running perfectly, and looks good. I won't be paying $500 a month though. I was pre-approved for $15,000. So I can buy anything that is worth $15,000 and the value of my truck. Most places are only giving me $4,500 for trade in, so I have $19,500 to play with for a truck. I've decided to sell the truck privately for $8,000. If I can sell it even for $7,000, I will win over that trade in bull crap. I'm not hating on my dodge, I'm just being realistic. I need something that's going to last and have a 100,000 mile warranty. Today, I was $1500 away from purchasing a black '07 tundra with 19K miles on it. Sighhh....it's tough thinking about this, I love my truck, it's one of a kind, but if I want to sell, now is the time.

Aren't you still paying for the transmission on that thing, or did you get rid of that early?
Either way whatever you get I think you should step up and go DIESEL.

Actually I drove an F-250s with the 6.8L Triton V-10 in front of a 6 speed, and it was pretty sweet. Just an idea if you're looking at newer vehicles. Got better gas mileage than my truck too lol.

But I think ultimatley MY next truck will be a 98 Dodge Ram 12 valve cummins turbo diesel.
I'd buy newer but I really want the 12 valve.

My bad...a 15k loan at 60 months is 300 a month to get a 100k warranty...which is 300 a month more then you are paying now, since you stated on a previous thread you had it paid off. Bet you anything you can drive your Dodge for 5 more years and not spend 18k on it, which is what you'll be paying if you take out a 60 month loan.

I'm guessing to be honest he could probably drive his truck for quite a few more years and not put into it what a new truck would cost. However, it's still a 8-9 year old truck that he has probably put about as much if not more into it than it's worth if he was to resale it. With a new truck at least it would be worth more on resale. However, if he keeps it long it will be down in value. I don't know it's a wash but it just seems like they are old trucks now that require more in fixing things than they are worth if you go to re sell it.

I've been thinking about selling mine as I really want either a new Tahoe or Suburban however, I'm just not sure I want to get rid of my truck and I think if I do it I will regret it. However, the biggest thing I like about my truck is it turns heads. I get compliments all the time on it well did, and still do some. However, not that's gotten old it gets looked at as some old clunker that's lifted. It no longer has that nice look to it just a old look.

At the same time it does everything I need a truck to do so I don't really need a new one and I have it about 90% how I want it where as a new one I'd have to start over with. Although with a new Suburban or Tahoe all I want one one is tinted windows the rest I'd be fine with leaving stock.

The biggest thing is the huge amount of money I'd lose if I sold mine.

In my humble opinion, I think that the more you work on your truck HANDS ON, the more likely you are to keep it longer. It seemed that he had the truck in the shop with the mechanic more than he did in his driveway.
